Walking

There are vast areas of countryside waiting to be discovered within easy distance from Aasleagh. From easy strolls along the river or by the shores of Killary, to challenging mountain hikes up Connacht's highest mountain, all levels are catered for. Walking guides with extensive knowledge of the area can be arranged.

The coast road along Killary Fjord is quiet and winding, flanked on one side by mountains and on the other by the sea. Continue on through the Delphi Valley, with rivers and lakes joined by cascading streams running off the hills. For a real challenge, how about tackling Mweelrea, at 814 metres the highest mountain in the west of Ireland.

And at the end of your day, there's always the thought of the excellent dinner awaiting you back in Aasleagh…
